Crooked Lane Books is publishing the 13th in Lucy Burdette’s popular Key West food critic mystery series, A Clue in the Crumbs. Not to be outdone, the London publisher Severn House is releasing her second women’s fiction title, THE INGREDIENTS OF HAPPINESS, next week. This new book features a young adjunct psychology professor who runs into trouble with administration bigwigs because of her very popular undergraduate class on happiness. Burdette’s first thriller, UNSAFE HAVEN, features non-stop action that takes place in New York City and Madison, CT. Her books and stories have been short-listed for Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity awards. She’s a past president of Sisters in Crime, and currently president of the Friends of the Key West Library.
I love all 21 of Lucy’s books and am so proud of her. In mid-life she transformed herself from a Clinical Psychologist to successful published novelist. In particular I think both Unsafe Haven and The Ingredients of Happiness are quite riveting.
John Brady
Readers of Topretirements might also remember that Lucy (pen name of Roberta Isleib) is married to John Brady, President of Topretirements. She decided in her 50s that she would rather be a writer than a psychologist. So she went to seminars, writing classes, joined a writers group, and read, read, read – then finally landed an agent and 2 publishers. Now 21 books later, she is still having fun with it!
