Photos Added to Community Listings: Home Owners Association Series Updated

Category: Active adult communities

July 30, 2012 — We are pleased to announce a helpful new feature at Topretirements – active and 55+ community listings will now have a photo in addition to the description, basic facts, type of community, website/phone number, and list of amenities. We added the photo to try to make these mini-reviews more helpful and interesting. Obviously not many communities have the photos yet, but we will add them over time and as new communities are added. If you have any photos to share, please forward them to us. You can see some of the communities with photos on our Florida Directory of Active Communities (look for the smaller photos below our Showcase and Top Listings).

Recently a member lamented that we do not have more reviews of communities in the Pacific Northwest. We would love to have more, if we could find out about them! We continue to be negatively impressed with the marketing departments of 55+ and active adult communities. In order to give our members the widest range of community options, Topretirements offers any legitimate community a Basic Listing for their community at no charge, a promotional tool that also generates good publicity and leads for the developments. For some reason many of these communities fail to take advantage of our offer to let over 160,000 visitors a month find out about their community at no charge. If you know about a community we should review, please let us know via the Contact us link.

Home Owners Association Series Updated
In case you missed it in this week’s newsletter, we have updated our popular 3 part series on Home Owners Associations (also called Community Associations). Part 1 is the introduction about what role they play in communities and what you might expect, Part 2 has an interview with HOA expert Joe West, and Part 3 gets into the details to be concerned about when the developer sells out and responsibility for day to day management shifts to the HOA. Here is the link to Part 1: Meet Your New Boss, Your HOA.

Nice touch. I would also like info on lot sizes. Some active adult, you take care of own yard, some have it as part of HOA/POA. But I can rarely find the size of the lot. Some of us would like a small lot, but usable lot (.25 acre), but I rarely find the info. Guess they think we are all alike.
