Take Our Newest Poll – What Factors Affect Where You Will Retire?
Category: Retirement Planning
July 9, 2018 — We think one of the most interesting questions about retirement is where people decide to retire – and why. In this short poll we list a number of potential reasons why someone might prefer one area to another, and ask you to rank them in order of how important they are to you. Plus we added a question on how important the political atmosphere of an area is to your retirement decision, just to see what might come back. We will use the anonymous data from the survey as the basis of an article published in the next few weeks – should be interesting!

Doug says:
I think more differentiation is needed in your survey to measure peoples' political inclinations. There are right progressives and left progressives. Progressives believe in large central governments to address societal concerns. That can be approached from many angles. In the US, we call those primary angles conservative and liberal. No selection in your survey for liberty focused people like constitutionalists or libertarians.
Mark says:
Your choice of states should say how many you are limited to. I picked 3 and was red flagged for making too many choices.
Also what is the difference between Climate Change and Climate and Weather ? If you talking about Climate Change as being "Desire a Change of Climate" then please say so. Or, are you talking about Climate Change as in the polar caps melting, oceans rising, etc.?
Laney Humphrey says:
I agree, Mark and Doug. The survey was not well constructed. GIGO - garbage in, garbage out. In other words, the results won't be very valuable. Laney
Editor's note: We reacted to and revised the survey the suggestions from Doug several days ago. Decided to try to keep it simple via political labels, rather than have a big variety of them. We will try not to take Laney's criticism too personally!
