I have used a rebounder since 1977 to maintain overall fitness.

I currently use a treadmill for fast walking, used to jog in my younger days. I have done some type of aerobic exercise since my 30s and lift light weights for upper body strength.

Have to ask: Velcroman - what is a rebounder? Must be good for you to have stuck with it all these years. I used to be a runner, but now I am a biker, swimmer, and walker. Plus pickleball, tennis, and skiing. Hard to pick a favorite.

A rebounder is a mini trampoline, about 36-42" diameter. I flex legs and feet to start, then run, then assorted calisthenics. Can do reclining foot raises on it as well as modified planks. Jump Sport made mine. Theory is acceleration of the entire body against gravity trains all the muscles and organs.

It might be a joke to serious athletes out there, but for your average senior, a good Silver Sneakers circuit class is a godsend. It offers aerobics, strength training, flexibility, balance work, and like-minded souls having fun together. A good instructor reads the crowd and ramps it up or down accordingly. My husband says it improved his golf swing, and I can still chase the four year old grandson around the playground.

As I've gotten older, I've to scale back on my activities and intensity. I'm 67, and now my weekly routine is 2 days of 4 mile jog, 2 days of swimming 2000yrd workout, and 2 days in the gym lifting. It keeps my overall body in shape and strong. My resting heart rate stays in the 55-60 range, which keeps me looking young. Mix up your workouts to keep you engaged and to keep different muscles active.

I guess mine would be adjusting my recliner!
