What Is the One Thing You Could Tell Gen Xers about Retirement

Sept. 5, 2023 — By now many Topretirements.com Members and visitors are well into their retirement planning, if not already retired. The next generation is coming along now, Gen Xers, folks born between 1965 and 1980. The oldest of the those hit 58 this year, so they are definitely starting to join the ranks of the retired.
Many boomers have been retired for years by now, so they have acquired a huge trove of experience. In the interest of cross-generation sharing, it would be great if you take this quick, 1 question poll on what you wish you could tell this new generation about retirement. I could give a lot of advice, but my overall would be to do it on your terms. That means when you want to, not someone else (employer, spouse, or friends). Take their advice, but make your own decision. That also means planning it out - having enough money to do it right, retiring in a place that makes you happy, doing the activities that make your heart sing! Enjoy - retirement is great.

Think about balance when you consider retirement. Some work (volunteer or paid), some play, some travel, some family time, etc.
Just as all work and no play make Jack a dull boy, all play and no work will do the same.
