First, you stand on both legs for 30 seconds, eyes open, then 30 more withe them closed. Then you stand on your dominate foot for 30, eyes open, then the non-dominate leg for 30 more.

The experts say that if you are in your 70se lasted about 26 seconds. People in their 30s and 40s can usually stand on one leg for a minute. They say that if you are over 65 and can make it 30 seconds without having to put the other leg you are doing well. What would be concerning is if you only last 5 seconds without tipping.

How well you do on this test is a good test of aging, with big implications about your ability to avoid falls, which result in over 1 million hospital visits each year for older adults. They say that exercise like walking, and practicing standing on one leg, are a good way to keep your mobility and avoid accidents.
