In This Issue...

  • Which Carolina is Better for Retirement- NC or SC?
  • Kissimmee, Florida
  • Retirement Reality Check
  • Klamath Falls, Oregon

  • This week we continue our retirement preparation series with a view looking backward from our frequent contributor, Betty Fitterman. Betty takes a look at how her retirement is going four years into it.

We are a day late with this newsletter because we were attending the "Green" funeral in Gainesville, GA of our beloved father-in-law. Next week we will feature a short feature on the environmentally friendly (and soothing) practice of green burials.

The Carolina's are red hot for retirement, and we get a lot of questions about which one is best. In this update to our 2010 article, we lay out the tax, climate, and town comparisons to help you decide.

Just south of Orlando in Florida's center is the fast growing town of Kissimmee. The Osceola Heritage Park features a major arena. Although there are many active adult communities here and in nearby towns, plenty of younger people live here too.

Click on a state to see reviews of 808 great retirement towns, plus capsule summaries of 1,627 active adult communities.

Betty Fitterman retired 4 years ago from a high-powered job in advertising. She has written extensively for us about the adventures she and her husband enjoyed while living in their Class A motor coach for most of that time. Now, four years out, Betty gives a very personal account of how retirement has worked in reality. Don't miss it.

This south central Oregon town is a great place for those who love the outdoors.  Located in a part of Oregon that is not very rainy, it is near Upper Klamath Lake, the largest natural lake in the Northwest.
