The results are in from our recent survey - where you think the best places to retire are to be found. We've summarized the most popular regions (no surprise there), states, cities (big surprise there, see photo), reasons for picking, and  things you want to avoid when you select a place to retire. As one of our commentors recently said, Kentucky has beautiful country with a "mild climate each season, love the horse country, near a major university (Univ. of Kentucky."  Lexington has some great nicknames - Horse Capital of the World and Thoroughbred City.

We were a bit surprised to see that Colorado was the 3rd most mentioned "best state for retirement" in our recent survey. Not that those Rocky Mountain highs aren't fabulous, we just didn't realize how popular it has become. Evergreen is an interesting city west of Denver along Bear Creek Canyon.  Like so many Colorado towns, it has amazing amenities, .
