10 Worst States for Retirement

March 12.  Welcome, to this week's newsletter.  This issue brings back one of our most popular features, our annual review of the 10 worst states for retirement. We've tried to provide the facts so our members can decide for themselves what makes a good or bad state for retirement, based ontheir own individual needs.

The next edition of this newsletter will be March 26.
To create this year's list we started with states that have the highest property taxes as a % of home value. After adding in a bunch of other factors, here are 10 states that you should at least know what you are getting into if you decide to retire there.
To prove the point that no matter how many "bad" things a state has going against it for retirement, it probably has many other wonderful aspects too. Take Ocean City, NJ for example.  This former Christian retreat features unbelievable beaches and harbors, in addition to its boardwalk.
Vermont is another state that made our 10 worst list. But that probably won't discourage the boomers who decide to retire hear for the clean air, beautiful mountains and forests, and artsy towns like Brattleboro.
Forward this to a friend.   If you have friends thinking about retirement, please forward them this newsletter. They can get their own subscription to this weekly "Best Places" newsletter, the Daily Digest, and the East and West New Community newsletters by going to our Newsletter sign up page.
