This town in east Texas has a lot going for it. Money cited it as a runner up for great golf town. It is also a Certified Retirement Community with a university extension, low taxes, and very attractive cost of living.

The folks at Money have put together a pretty good list of 25 places to retire that won't burst your budget. Here is our take on the Top 10 - a few of which are, refreshingly,  new to these kinds of lists.

This town in central Alabama was the Money winner for Golf Lovers. There are 24 golf courses within 30 miles; it is a destination on the famous Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Cost of living is low and there is a historic district.
