What It Is Like to Retire in Germantown
Germantown is a very affluent (HH income over $100,000) tucked in the southwestern corner of Tennessee, just 10 miles from Memphis. In the city center is the "Old Germantown" neighborhood, anchored by a reproduction of the 1868 railroad depot and railroad tracks that recall the community's earliest days of development as an outpost along the Memphis and Charleston Railroad. The population is 40,000 and the median age is 45.7 years old. International Paper moved their headquarters there from New Jersey and it is home to many other international headquarters.
Here's what one Topretirements member had to say about Germantown: There was so much to do year round. We loved the climate and residents. We would vacation on the weekends in beautiful and natural Arkansas (truly an outdoor recreational paradise). We had to move for a job and no longer live there but miss it.
