What It Is Like to Retire in Annapolis

Annapolis, the capital of the State of Maryland, is one of America’s oldest, most distinguished, and charming communities. A city with a population of 38,509 (2011 census), it makes a wonderful '''retirement community''' for those who can afford to live here. The city is situated on the Severn River near Chesapeake Bay. It is also home to the United States Naval Academy and St. John's College. Annapolis, Maryland attracts active adults because of its wonderful charm as an 18th century colonial capital, preserved in the Colonial Annapolis Historic District. If you are a history buff and you love antiques, this is the place for you. The community dates back to 1649 when some Puritan exiles from Virginia settled here. The community boasts that it has the largest collection of 18th century buildings of any other city in the U.S. Photo of street with church in background courtesy of Wikipedia by high limitzz via Flickr, photo of Annapolis City Hall courtesy of Wikipedia and Gropuscle, Licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0/   photo of View into City Dock with Market House at right and Main Street to left courtesy of Wikipedia and Smallbones (public domain).
