The Bolivar Peninsula features 27 miles of pristine beaches, famous for fishing and camping. The Bolivar Lighthouse dates back to 1872. It is a popular destination for retirees as well as tourist destination. It is not far Galveston as the crow flies but a very long drive - since there is a gap in the barrier island between them.
