Lake Keowee is a very large reservoir in north-central South Carolina, just west of Greenville. It is not a town but a region. Keoweek Creek and some surrounding territory was inundated when the reservoir was created. The area is sparsely populated but becoming a hot development spot for active adult/55+ communities, as well as an area for second homes. Some of the towns in the area include Seneca, Walhalla, Liberty, Six Mile, Keowee, and Clemson. Lake Keowee is immediately south of Sumter National Forest. One of the nicest things about Lake Keowee and surrounding towns is the proximity of Clemson and Clemson University, which is just a few miles away. The value of homes depends on size, condition, and proximity to the lake. Prices can range from just over $100,000 in some of the small towns to well into the $200's near the lake, and even much more in some of the upscale developments in the region.

Climate and Physical Environment
Located in northwest South Carolina, west of Greenville. Lake Keowee is a reservoir created by damming the Little River and the Keowee River. The outflow is a tributary of the Savannah River. The average January temperature is 40 and in July it is in the high 70's. Humidity is higher than average.
Restaurants & Cultural Scene
There is not a lot of cultural infrastructure since this is a resort area. But Clemson University and its cultural resources is located within 20 miles of most places on the lake.
Crime
The crime rate in Seneca is higher than average and about half the national average in Clemson.
Medical facilities
Most of the small towns in the area have some type of medical facilities. Nearby Clemson and just a bit farther Greenville have every type of medical resource.
Transportation
Clemson has Amtrak service. Greenville-Spartansburg Airport has convenient service.
