What It Is Like to Retire in Hardeeville

Hardeeville is a small but very rapidly growing town in southern South Carolina. Located right on I95, chances are you have driven by here at least once in your life.

Where to Retire in Hardeeville and Home Prices

Because a lot of the town is focused on commercially serving its I 95 exits, there are parts of town that most northern transplants would not like. Hardeeville is within 20 miles of the much more glamorous communities of Bluffton, Port Royal, Hilton Head, and Savannah.  This area in the Low Country of South Carolina is the focus of many new active adult communities, many of them extremely large. (see link at left ).
Average home prices are hard to interpret. Homes in the community outside of big developments tended to sell in the mid $100's in early 20so, while they can be much more than that in the 55+ communities.  The area has good weather and plenty of golf courses and other types of recreation.

What Is Special about Hardeeville

There is a low cost of living and many new developments.  Hardeeville's location near Savannah and Charleston is good, although the town itself is not very appealing.

What Is Not Special about Hardeeville

The huge developments being built in the area will dramatically change life here - possibly for the better and depending on one's point of view. Crime is high and there is a certain grit about being near I95.
