Conway is a fast growing small town of 26,000 in northern South Carolina, about 20 miles from Myrtle Beach.  The town's population has grown 491ince 2010 thanks to an influx of retirees and active adults. Active adult communities spread out in all directions. Being adjacent to Myrtle Beach is a good thing because it provides an anchor and easy access to the amazing shopping, beaches, golf courses, and cultural venues of Myrtle Beach.

Conway has several buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including City Hall, which was designed by Robert Mills, the architect for the Washington Monument. Conway's Main Street USA project has given its downtown a revitalized appearance with quaint shops and bistros. The Riverwalk is a big attraction with many great dining opportunities. There are many active communities to choose from in this area (see links at left). The National Association of Realtors reports the median sale price was $285,900 in the Myrtle Beach-Conway-North Myrtle Beach area during the 2nd quarter of 2021.

Low cost of living and easy access to Myrtle Beach. Coastal Carolina College adds an interesting element to the town. The Riverwalk and the revitalized downtown add to its appeal. The cost of living and taxes are very low.

Climate and Physical Environment

Conway is about 20 miles from Myrtle Beach in extreme northeastern South Carolina. The climate is hot and humid in summer, and winters are fairly mild with many nice days. The average July temp is about 80 and the average January temp is in the mid to high 40's.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Conway itself is not too rich in culture, but nearby Myrtle Beach has many theatres and other cultural venues. Having a college in Conway, Coastal Carolina, is a plus. Its YRT2 arena has cultural events, and Coastal Carolina's sports teams play here as well.

Crime

The crime index is slightly higher than the national index and coming down. Most of the problems seem to be property crime.

Medical facilities

The Conway Medical Center provides emergency services, and nearby Myrtle Beach has more facilities.

Transportation

Myrtle Beach Airport is very convenient with low cost carriers - it is 16 miles away
