What Is Special about Islandia
Islandia is on Long Island, which is a very interesting place to live, particularly for boaters or beach goers. One has access to either the Atlantic Ocean or Long Island Sound within a short drive. Also not too far away is the east end of Long Island, which is becoming a significant tourist draw with many wineries and B & B's.
What Is Not Special about Islandia
Long Island tends to be crowded and expensive. It is very hard to get on and off of - either drive to New York to rejoin the mainland, or take a ferry to Connecticut.

There is no public transportation, Long Island MacArthur Airport has domestic flights from Islip, New York and is 5 miles from Islandia,and LaGuardia Airport and JFK are about 40 miles away.
