Lakewood and Lakewood Township is a growing community near the New Jersey shore town of Brick, just off the Garden State Parkway. It is the home of one catholic college, Georgian Court, as well as one of the largest (jewish) yeshivas in the world. Lakewood is a major center for orthodox jews.
Lakewood was a popular winter resort for New Yorkers in the early 1900's. Lake Carasaljo and surrounding pine forests were part of the attraction. The Rockefeller family and Jay Gould both had estates here. The former Gould estate is the home of Georgian Court College. The Rockefeller estate is now Ocean County Park. Lakewood is in southern New Jersey near the oceanside town of Brick. The pine barrens surround Lakewood on 3 sides and the ocean is to the east. The climate is a bit milder than New York City or towns to the west.

Lakewood offers parks, lakes, cultural and historical sites, and host several events throughout the year, Lakewood is also home to a minor league baseball team.

Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus is located in Lakewood.
Transportation
The Garden State Parkway runs adjacent to Lakewood. The town is about an hour from Newark Airport, but does operate it's own airport for private planes.
