What It Is Like to Retire in Somerville

Somerville, Massachusetts, a growing and vibrant Boston suburb has attracted young residents and workers since the telecommunication and biotechnology boom of the mid-to-late 90's, which helped to spur its growth and redevelopment. Covering just 4.2 square miles and with population of approximately 75,000, it is one of the most densely populated municipalities in the country, but is a very walkable community and is also popular with bikers. Somerville is home to a thriving arts community and has one of the highest number of artists per capita in the U.S., and in the late 90's was recognized as one of the hippest places to live. In 2015, the city received the All-American City Award.
