Set at the bottom left base of Cape Cod, this fairly large town is a popular retirement community surrounded on 2 sides by water. Falmouth, Massachusetts (population 32,000) actually consists of a number of villages and unincorporated towns including Woods Hole, Teaticket, and East, West, and North Falmouth. Woods Hole is where one takes the Ferry to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, and it is also the home of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The Falmouth downtown provides extensive shopping. Museums, art galleries, and museums. Spacious greens and attractive older homes make the setting picturesque. Falmouth is near the beginning of Cape Code - it is relatively easy to get to the mainland via a 4 lane highway.v Active adults come to the Cape for its beauty and relatively mild (for New England) climate. There is not really a slow time here, just a less crowded season. Children and grandchildren love to visit this famous vacation spot.
