Lahinch, Ireland
What It Is Like to Retire in Lahinch
Lahinch is a town midway up Ireland's west coast. It is small with a population of under 1,000. The town is famous and attracts many tourists for having one of the finest golf courses in the world (Lahinch Golf Club), its sandy beaches, as well as being an important surfing center. Part of the charm of the town is the compact downtown with many restaurants and pubs. You can walk anywhere in this town to anything you would want. Some of the surrounding towns, particularly Doolin, which is up the coast a few miles, would also make pleasant places to retire. Where to Retire in Lahinch and Home Prices
You can live in the village or more likely in one of the developments clustered around the city. Some condos and homes were built near the golf course at fairly high prices, we are not sure how those fared after the Irish economic downturn starting in 2008-9. A search of properties for sale in 2024 found some apartments and semi-detached homes for sale from about 350,000 Euros, homes can reach the millions. Some abandoned homes are available for $60,000 Euros./p>
