Nimes is an ancient city in southern France near the Mediterranean. It was conquered by the Romans and has many well-preserved buildings and ruins from the early AD years. Those include an Amphitheater, Maison Carre'e, and the Temple of Diane. eterans of the Roman legions who had served Julius Caesar in his Nile campaigns, at the end of fifteen years of soldiering, were given plots of land to cultivate on the plain of Nîmes. Where to Retire in Nimes and Home Prices
Some reports say that Nimes is not as pretty or nice a place to live as nearby Montpelier. Nearby Uzès is probably the most beautiful town in Languedoc. Sommières is pretty and lively with many good restaurants and cafes. Baucaire is another good choice. Homes and apartments in Nimes tend to need renovation. They are available for less than 100,00 Euros, although they can range up to 1,000,000 Euros.

Crime
Walnut Creek is connected by freeways to Oakland and the Bay area. There are 2 BART stations offering a mass transit alternative. Walnut Creek is a friendly town for bikers thanks to the Iron Horse Trail and the Contra Costa Canal trails, as well as bike lanes within the city limits. Oakland International Airport with its budget carriers is nearby.
Medical facilities
Walnut Creek is a wealthy town of about 65,000 in the hills east of San Francisco and Oakland. For many it is used as a suburb of those cities, although there are some high tech and shopping employers in the area. This area of northern California is very beautiful and so is the town. Walnut Creek has many parks, great shopping, 2 BART stations, and a thriving art and culture scene.
