Moore Haven is a small town of under 2,000 residents and the county seat of, Glades County, Florida. It is located on the southwest shoreline of Lake Okeechobee and the Caloosahatchee River and was once considered "Little Chicago" because of its location. The riverboat traffic of produce and cattle made it a boom town until 1926, when the Great Miami Hurricane devastated the area. Today, it is a popular fishing town and hosts the annual Chalo Nitka festival. Chalo Nitka is Seminole for "Big Bass" and the celebration includes a popular fishing tournament.
