Jensen Beach is an unusual community on the East Coast of Florida along Hobe Sound, just above Stuart. There is an interesting and occasionally funky downtown with art galleries, shops, and restaurants. Here is a quote we found on City-Data.com from SeetheUSA that seems very apt: "Jensen Beach is a quaint little town. I love the "downtown" area. Very small, but interesting. Close to shopping and the beach! What else do you need?" There are a tremendous number of old manufactured home and mobile home (including RV) communities here, many of which have great views across the Intracoastal toward the barrier island and the Jupiter Inlet Acquatic Preserve. The area is considered part of the Treasure Coast, which derives its name from the ships that wrecked during the 17th century because of coral reefs in the shallow waters. The population is almost 12,000 with a median age of 50.
