With a population of about 13,000,(2020), it's a popular town for retirees, with a median age of 61. In the late 1950's, the Army Corps of Engineers dug 25 miles of canals as if they were streets, and many waterfront homes were built here. Boating and fishing are popular, and Hudson is home to three semiprivate golf courses, recreation centers, and Hudson Beach which was built in the 1960's. It also has a number of vacation resorts, along with camping and RV sites.
