Overview

Chiefland Astronomy Village is a small community of retirees near Chiefland, FL dedicated to the pursuit of astronomy. The community was established here because this part of northwest Florida does not have as much light pollution as other parts of the country. There are 25 homeowners here who have built 15 astronomical observatories. Non-resident members can come and camp here and enjoy some communal and private viewing facilities. The community's website states that "our seeing is far better than what most observers in the the USA ever experience."
