Everything about Boca Grande seems special, it's a quiet community that offers beaches, sailing, and great fishing along with parks, trails, golf courses, and a walkable downtown. The Gasparilla Island State Park is home to the The Port Boca Grande Lighthouse, and the Gasparilla Inn and Club is a historic hotel and one of the largest surviving resort hotels in Florida. The community center sponsors classes, lectures and events, and residents enjoy many clubs which include a camera club, bridge club and garden club. Getting around Boca Grande is easy as it is very golf cart and bicycle friendly.

The cost of living is very high; the island is accessible only by water taxi or boat; there is health care in Boca Grande, but there is no hospital on Gasparilla Island.

January's average temperature is 62 degrees with July's average at 82 degrees. Hurricane Charley hit Boca Grande in August of 2004, causing some $20 billion worth of damage to Southwest Florida, and damaging many building and Banyan trees in Boca Grande.

There are several restaurants located here and of course great seafood. The cultural scene is limited on the island but there is a performing arts theater that provides plays, musicals and education. The town also sponsors many events, lectures, and activities at the community center.

The Boca Grande Health Clinic provides medical care to the Gasparilla Island community, but hospitals are located off of the island in Port Charlotte or other nearby towns.
Transportation
The main modes of transportation on Gasparilla Island is by golf cart or bicycle. Water taxis take you to and from the island.
