Playa Espadilla and Playa Biesanz are nearby beaches for sunning, swimming, and snorkeling. Northwest of town, there is the Damas Island mangrove estuary.

Quepos is a busy, growing community. Expats probably would not want to live downtown but there is real estate along the coast and in the hills that would be suitable.
