Davis is a city of over 65,000 in north central California, 11 miles west of Sacramento. It is famous as the home of UC Davis, a distinguished university with more than 32,000 students.  As a college town it has a decidely liberal bent plus all the attractions associated with that, such as plentiful restaurants, wine bars, and book stores. Davis is in north central California, west of Sacramento and northeast of San Francisco. The average January temperature is in the mid 40's and the average July temp is in the mid 70's.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Being home to UC Davis's famous wine making department (Viticulture and Enology) one would expect great wines and foods here. Tucos Wine Bar and Vini Wine Bar generally get very favorable reviews online. A big event each year is the Whole Earth Festival's (WEF) held each Mother's Day weekend. Picnic Day is another big event held each April with a  parade and other festivities. The UC Davis Arboretum is quite popular. The Mondavi Center on the UC Davis campus hosts many world-class touring acts, is one of the biggest non-seasonal attractions to Davis.

Sutter Davis Hospital provides acute care services. Other hospitals are nearby in Woodland and Sacramento.
