Today there are several Dude Ranches here, making it the Dude Ranch capital of the world.  During World War II, the Army built an airfiield where thousands of men were trained to fly gliders. After the war, home builders started development in the area. It has many interesting landmarks and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places including the old City Hall and Jail, the town post office and a barber shop.
