The town of Queen Creek, located southeast of Phoenix, is relatively new as it was incorporated in 1989. Queen Creek is made up of several neighborhoods with many new housing communities being constructed, including those for 55+. Zillow reports the median home value here is $602,172, in mid-2023.  

What Is Special about Queen creek

Residents enjoy beautiful scenery provided by the San Tan Mountains as they take advantage of the many parks and the multi-use trail system that provides connectivity throughout the town and neighboring communities. Nearby is the 10,000 acre San Tan Mountain Regional Park for recreational opportunities, and an equestrian centre that features rodeos. Queen Creek is also home to a very popular performing arts center, a historical society and many shopping and dining venues.

What Is Not Special about Queen creek

As a suburb of Phoenix, Queen Creek has grown very quickly with urban sprawl, and is not a walkable community. Real estate prices are high. Summers are very hot with the average July temperature in the 90's.

Those who want to retire outside of Phoenix would enjoy all that Queen Creek has to offer.  Along with parks and outdoor activities, there is a library, a senior center, volunteer opportunities, great entertainment, and a medical center.  There is both a regional airport and an international airport nearby.

Local Economy Is Driven by

The town has a low unemployment rate of just 4.8%  (2023), and has a high percentage of residents that work from home.  The economy is driven by construction, education and entertainment. In 2023, it was announced a battery manufacturing company will build a huge complex here that will create thousands of jobs.

Climate and Physical Environment

Located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, the town of Queen Creek is primarily within Maricopa County, but the city limits extend into Pinal County on the eastern and southern boarders.  Winters are mild with the average January temperature 51 degrees, and July’s average is 92

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

There are several restaurants here including cafes, bistros, and pubs. The Queen Creek Olive Mill offers a Tuscan-inspired farm-to-table cafe along with a tour of the groves where you can learn how olives and grown and pressed. Cultural events are provided by the Queen Creek Performing Arts center with nationally touring performances, family musicals, plays, and events. The Queen Creek Botanical Garden  is a 10-acre development that features orchards, greenhouses and a demonstration garden.  For a variety of cultural activities, Phoenix is approximately 40 miles northwest of Queen Creek.

Crime

The crime rate is about the same as the national average.

Medical facilities

Banner Ironwood Medical Center opened in Queen Creek in 2010, and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is located nearby in Gilbert, AZ.

Transportation

The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is just 6 miles away, and the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is only 35 miles away.
