Prattville is a town of 35,000 in Central Alabama. The area was inhabited by native Americans until settled in the 1830s to become an industrial area. The city has become a popular golf destination, featuring the Capitol Hill golf courses (part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail). Its Senator Course hosted the Navistar (now Yokohama Tire) LPGA Classic on the LPGA Tour from 2007 through 2012 when Navistar ended its sponsorship. Money Magazine names "A Best Place to Retire on a Budget" for golfers.

Median home values have fluctuated from the $90s into the low $200s, depending on what is selling. In mid 2014 City-Data.com reported the median to be about $120,000. Real estate taxes are typically less than $500/year. Zillow.com reported the Home Value Index as $166,703 in early 2020, and calls it a "Very Hot" market. We do not know of any active adult communities in the area.
What Is Special about Prattville
Prattville is nicknamed the Fountain City because of its many artesian wells. Being a destination on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail makes it an interesting place that is good for the local economy. There are 24 golf courses within 30 miles. The High Point Town Center provides shopping, and there are several popular parks. The Daniel Pratt Historic District, Bell House, and Buena Vista are all on the National Register of Historic Places.

Grants Pass, which has a population of just under 25,000, has become a popular tourist center since the timber industry has declined in importance.
